We are still waiting on Mr. Flusche’s new laptop. I think it is waiting for its next ride in Kentucky, but don’t quote me on that. Anyhoo, now it is a race to see if it gets here before the long-lost postage stamp orchard I ordered two months ago.
This year I started a veggie garden, and it is doing quite well. I’m about to harvest the second round of leaf lettuce. The millions of carrots and onions are coming in nicely, and the bell peppers and cherry tomatoes are soon to be picked. Oh! And parsnips and shallots!! Yum!
Along with all those veggies, I also ordered a postage stamp orchard. A lovely assortment of dwarf trees that come dormant and cross-pollinate. They take about three years to reach fruit-bearing size. While the trees remain dwarf size (about 8’-10’), the fruit is standard size. I was supposed to get a yellow delicious apple, a red delicious apple, an elberta peach, a kieffer pear, and north star cherry, and a blue damson plum.
BUT…nada! Two months down and no fruit trees. Not even dormant fruit trees. Not even dead, dormant fruit trees.
After a month of the seed and plant company not shipping anything, we finally got them to put the postage stamp orchard on the back of a truck. Well, apparently the company thought it should visit every state in the Union on it’s way here. I kid you not, here is the official itinerary of our orchard (and it is STILL not even remotely close yet!!).
