Day 153 – Some Sad Milestones and Some Great Milestones

Sunday, August 16, 2020 –

In trying to cope with the nuttiness of the world, I found myself wallowing in all the icky feelings this whirlwind of a year has brought. I ended up making a list of some milestones around this blog. It is kinda ugly:

  • As of the end of this post, I will have written over 85,500 words
  • I have almost 200 pages of text written
  • This is the end of the twenty-second week of writing
  • The start of this blog was marked by the day our Bishop suspended Mass on March 16, 2020, which means today marks exactly five months of writing

Then I decided to take that ugly list and see what it really means:

  • I have written over 85,500 words about all the wonderful things Catholicism has to offer
  • I have almost 200 pages celebrating the Faith, the Saints, and the Almighty Power of God
  • The last three weeks in with our new Latin Mass family / parish have been phenomenal
  • We have a great Rosary group we see weekly
  • I have had five months of digging deeper into my Catholic faith
  • We have Mass! I am thankful that for the last three months I have been able to attend daily Mass and be with my Lord!

It is easy to look at the bad side of things and throw yourself a pity party. It does not offer much comfort, but it is easy. But, when you feel down in the dumps, it is important to take a moment, pray, and see the good in everything.

It is not easy to look at the bright side of things, especially when it rains for two weeks straight. I **could** moan and sob that I have spent so much time and energy on a blog solely because the world is in a death spiral of crazy. **OR** I could see the last five months of writing for what it is: a fantastic opportunity to read and learn more about my faith. I have the incredible chance to share some knowledge with the two people who actually read this blog, and that is amazing!

Heart of Jesus, loaded down with opprobrium, have mercy on us.
