Day 152 – A Small Break Whist Mrs. Flusche Contemplates What to Write About Next

Saturday, August 15, 2020 –

Happy Solemnity of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary! Today is normally a Holy Day of Obligation, but because it is Saturday in the United States and also because of the current blanket dispensation from attending Mass, the obligation to attend Mass is lifted. However, Mr. Flusche and I attended a lovely Traditional Latin Mass celebrating the Assumption.

Anyhoo, since it is a solemnity for our Blessed Mother, I decided to take a small break while I decide what to write about next. I like the idea of continuing on with our Catholic definitions series, but I need to figure out the best place to start.

There really is a lot to write about:

  • the seven deadly sins
  • the seven opposite virtues
  • the eight beatitudes
  • the three theological virtues
  • the four moral/cardinal virtues
  • the four marks of the Church
  • the seven gifts of the Holy Spirit
  • the twelve fruits of the Holy Spirit
  • the four last things
  • the three evangelical counsels
  • the three eminent good works
  • the seven corporal works of mercy
  • the seven spiritual works of mercy
  • the four sins that cry out to heaven
  • the six sins against the Holy Spirit
  • the three pillars of the Church’s authority…

Oh! The list is endless! And, of course, there are also all the “how-tos” that I could write. Like, how to use a hand missal and how to read the Catechism. I would like to do a how to pray Liturgy of the Hours, but I admit I still rely on the app to sort that out for me. EEK!

The real issue is how long it takes me to do each post. It may surprise you, but I do at least 3-4 hours of reading, tabbing, highlighting, and note taking before even cracking open my laptop to write. For realz…with a Z!

I also drink a lot of coffee in the process, which I probably should not do.

Heart of Jesus, propitiation for our sins, have mercy on us.
