Now, I don’t get out of Spotsylvania County much, but I had the opportunity to travel with Andrew Flusche up to McLean, Virginia for a fact finding mission of great importance. You see, Andrew is the Grand Knight of St. Jude Catholic Church here in Spotsylvania, and he received a generous invitation for a behind the scenes look at how St. John the Beloved smokes and serves meat and other food for their huge parish! What a treat!

Bright and early we loaded into the car, and off we went. Father Pollard was an amazing host. We learned a lot about scaling up in size as our little parish grows. We couldn’t have asked for a more beautiful day or kinder, more helpful parishioners. Thank you all so much!

Andrew did manage to wiggle his way into helping slice a few briskets and man a smoker here and there. Hopefully we can bring these great tips back to our little St. Jude in Spotsylvania. Again, many thanks to St. John the Beloved, Father Pollard, and all the parishioners who helped Andrew while he was visiting.
